Light, Movement, Community, Civic Connection
Designed as a study for Akron’s Highland Square neighborhood, the unbuilt concept uses intersecting curved and rectilinear forms to organize collections, reading spaces, and community functions while creating a strong relationship between interior activity and the surrounding neighborhood. Generous glazing brings daylight deep into the library and allows reading rooms and book stacks to remain visually connected to the landscape, while the sculptural roof and flowing circulation establish a distinctive civic identity.
